Understanding the Staff Dashboard
A complete guide to the home dashboard, its widgets, statistics, and quick actions
Staff Dashboard Overview
The Staff Dashboard is your home page after logging in. It provides an at-a-glance view of your current workload, pending tasks, and key statistics for your nurseries.
Dashboard Sections
Welcome Banner
Shows your name, current date, and the active funding period. A reminder of any approaching deadlines may be displayed here.
Quick Statistics Cards
Four summary cards at the top show:
| Card | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Total Children | Number of active children registered across your nurseries |
| Active Submissions | Submissions for the current period that aren't yet exported |
| Awaiting Review | Submissions completed by parents waiting for staff review |
| Approved This Period | Submissions approved and ready for export |
Click any card to go directly to the filtered submissions list.
Pending Tasks
A prioritised list of items requiring your attention:
- Submissions awaiting review - Parent has completed, needs staff review
- Expiring 30-hour codes - Codes expiring within 30 days
- Submissions overdue - Past the deadline without parent completion
- Rejected submissions - Returned to parent, awaiting correction
Each task shows a count and links to the relevant page.
Recent Activity
Shows the last 10 significant actions across your nurseries:
- New submissions created
- Submissions approved/rejected
- New children registered
- Parent declarations received
Submission Progress Chart
A visual breakdown of submission statuses for the current period:
- Draft - Grey
- Sent to Parent - Blue
- In Progress - Yellow
- Parent Submitted - Purple
- Approved - Green
- Rejected - Red
- Exported - Emerald
Nursery Summary (Multi-Nursery Users)
If you have access to multiple nurseries, a breakdown shows:
- Children per nursery
- Submission counts per nursery
- Completion percentage per nursery
Quick Actions
Buttons for common tasks appear prominently:
- Create Submission - Start a new funding submission
- Register Child - Add a new child to the system
- View All Submissions - Go to the full submissions list
Filtering by Nursery
If you have access to multiple nurseries, use the nursery dropdown at the top to filter all dashboard data to a specific location.
Refreshing Data
Dashboard data refreshes automatically when you navigate to it. Click the refresh icon to manually update statistics without leaving the page.
Tip: Bookmark the dashboard (or use Alt+H) to quickly check your pending tasks throughout the day.
